I always thought my opinion paled in comparison to the most educated among us. And even if their arguments were asinine, in principle I thought we all agreed that our common humanity came first. I believed there was an unspoken pact to protect the minds of our children, not to exploit our communities, and to refrain from hostile confrontations, unless provoked. Covid changed that. Looking back, I laugh; I was so naïve, I was sleepwalking.
At the height of Covid, the reports of infections and deaths were horrible. Individual perception and political posturing became more important than the essence of humanity.
